Josh's 10th Birthday

Another milestone was celebrated this year with my son turning 10. He is my eldest child so to me that’s a huge milestone for myself. A whole decade of being a Mother. WOW!! Now usually in our family I make it that my children can have a big party every second year. And Josh is great with this & was well deserving of this years party. Now it was all up to him with the choice of party he’d like to have, but of course with a Mothers twist (well after all it is my celebration also). So Josh opted for a skateboarding/scootering party & his choice of colours for the colour scheme was black, red, grey & white. I found this rather hard to begin with…oh who am I trying to kid. I found it difficult the whole way through. Pinks & girly things are so much easier I must admit. So I searched & searched the internet for inspiration & something age appropriate (as most skating parties were too little boyish or too old). So with nothing coming up, I was left on my own. And as I always seem to have luck on my side, the things skate related & in the colours I were after just seem to pop up just at the right times….Yay for me!!!

The 13 boys & 3 girls had an absolute blast with most of the boys saying it was the BEST PARTY EVER!!!! They had real scootering fun at skate zone, scootering to some groovy music, bubbles blowing through the air & rock climbing to enjoy. But most of all, the boyz favourite thing was being let loose in what they thought was a Candy Shoppe…filling their bags & pockets to the brim. What a joy to see such excitement & pleasure on their gorgeous faces. The kids’ behavior was perfect. It was an absolute pleasure & delight to have each & every one of them attend.

Here are some pics I’d like to share of this special day. I hope you like what I came up with. Everything was handmade by myself.

Bella's 5th Birthday

MY BIRTHDAY GIRL

So lets back track a few months....

In May I had the pleasure of celebrating my daughters 5th birthday. This year she started prep & turning 5 to me is a pretty big deal, like a little milestone. Now as time was an issue I was originally going to do something simple, like having it at McDonald's. But for those of you who know me really well, knows it’s just NOT in my blood to do that. Like I said, turning 5 is kind of special to me so how could I bring myself to celebrate in any other style but my own. So with no real time up my sleeve I had to get cracking. I ended up deciding on a party in the park. The night before poured with rain in typical sunshine coast fashion….panic stricken I had a girlfriend frantically checking the park grounds for suitability & muddiness & searching for another venue. But will another venue being not an option at such short notice we were then fortunate enough to have luck on our side. As typical again & also true to the coast, by 10am the weather had cleared. The clouds moved on & the sun was shinning…Yippee!!!
The morning was a success with 23 happy children enjoying face painting, bubbles, yummy food, climbing the towers & belting the piƱata.
Here are a few pics to share of her special day

A BOUQUET OF FLOWERS FOR THE CAKE

Sorry it's been so long.......

Now I must apologize as we near the end of another year & my poor blog has yet again been terribly neglected. It’s been a whirlwind of a year with plenty of HIGHS & just a very few small lows. It’s been an absolute delight & I feel very humble at watching what started out as my hobby of making all things pretty & sweet with kiddilicious, grow into a small business. And there is no other to thank but the wonderful people (YOU) who have purchased, followed & supported me through every step of the way. There have been lots of learning curves along the way & I’ve enjoyed every part of it. And as time moves along so does my plans for kiddilicious. So for 2011 I hope to have plenty more to offer you all. There may be some slow steps in the making as I slowly transfer my ideas from my head to the making but as you stay tuned you will be able to watch these unfold. Exciting, exciting I can’t wait. xXx

Easter Sunday

And so here we have it. Easter has rolled around once again. Surely we aren’t over Christmas yet, are we!!
So just where does our time go. I’m a big one for the holidays. Our childhood goes far to fast, so I believe in making it as special & magical as possible. So in doing this, usually I’d have all my Easter decorations out in full swing a good 3 weeks before Easter hits. But what has happened this year! YIKES!!! I just didn’t seem to have the time. Must admit though, kiddilicious has certainly been eating up a lot of my time lately. But I’m sure we aren’t going to argue about that. Anyhow the most important thing was/is the children & low n be hold they never questioned once where the Easter decorations were, PHEW!!!

Josh Joel Bella

So how did the day go? Well it all actually started at midnight when Bella woke & found her little basket of goodies. She was so excited that she got up & started searching the house for the Easter Bunny. Of course I was still up so she wanted to know if I’d seen where he went. Thank goodness the story about me being in the shower at the time worked. Well she wouldn’t go back off to sleep of course so I had to head off to bed myself & take her with me to get some piece & quiet.
I think it was Joel who was the next one up at 6am & then of course once Joel is awake everyone is awake with his excitement. All went fairly well & I even managed a lay in with Bella singing Aussie Easter Oi! Oi! Oi! all morning…lol Thanks Bella, that was beautiful…

Well the kiddies managed to only eat around about two eggs for breakfast so I thought that was pretty good going. And once we were all up & ready we headed off outside for a small Easter Egg Hunt. Lots of fun & giggles. Though, I will be putting that basket of goodies away for later on during the holidays.

So after a couple of hours of the kids bouncing off the walls with the neighbours kids we decided it was time to get them out of the house to burn off a bit of that chocolate. And look how lucky we are to have this most beautiful Rainforest just 3-5 minutes drive from our house. It’s glorious & even though I have visited there many times, I’m still just as taken with its beauty as the first time I walked through there. The children just love it there & burn through the forest as if it were their own backyard. The rainforest also has a small waterfall & the children took great delight in swimming it the waterhole this afternoon, (if though the water was freezing). Brrrrr!!!!

So ok, all of this was all meant to exhaust the little kiddie-winks for the rest of the afternoon, but we are talking about my children here, so unfortunately no such luck. They were only re-energized…Grrrrr!!!! lol

Well I hope you enjoyed the photos but most importantly you have enjoyed some special time with your own families this Easter.
Keep safe

Weekend Project

Here's a sneak peak at what I got up to on the weekend.

Another beautiful dress. I just couldn't resist this gorgeous Botanica Collection fabric.  It's just beautiful & fabric feels divine. Oh I love it!! So this time I just knew I'd have to save myself from keeping yet another one of my handmade pieces.  And to make sure it would leave my grasp I knew I'd  have to make it in a size that just would not fit my daughter. Though just the same, I did try squeezing her into it as a top...lol
Phew!!! It wouldn't fit.  So this gorgeous size 2 dress is now available for sale at www.madeit.com.au/kiddilicious .  There will also be some gorgeous matching hair clips coming real soon.

I hope you all had a magnificent weekend

Sugar & Spice & everything oh so sweet & nice……

Don’t you just love the sweet squeaks of a new born baby, I do. Gets my cluckiness really clucking. A girlfriend had a beautiful baby girl last week & today was Ladies Day to welcome her new daughter into their home. Oh the smells & sounds were just delightful & of course great company, yummy food & the most gorgeous gifts. And so of course this little baby just had to have a kiddilicious pair of bloomers. Luckily I just so happen to have had a pair of new born bloomers already made up. tehehehehe…..

But this morning I decided that I needed to add a little something, so I busily got started on embellishing a little singlet with the baby’s first initial to go with it. So here is the end result.

This gives me such great pleasure to sew from the heart & just for love.

The Dress......

Ok so it took a few weeks but I’m finally there. The Lily Dress is born & totally Princess Bella Approved. Whew!!!!! Easy enough pattern, basic really. So what’s been the hold up I here you ask! Well! It’s the shirring. I don’t know if any of you have given this a go or are experts in the field but as for me I’d never really done any fabric shirring before….and it’s not really all that difficult but what is difficult is the damn sewing machine. Sooooo temperamental arrrrggggghhhhh!!!!! So Google got a massive hit but still to no avail. So I headed off for some expert advice but still; Nothing. So sorry I’d hear them say, most sewing machines just don’t like shirring fabric these days. Grrrrrr!!! Not the answer I’m looking for.
Well I don’t have a modern sewing machine & I’m not about to pass her in just because of some shirring issues & I refuse to give in that easily. I knew it had something to do with the tension & bingo…..Success at last. On my old machine with a front loading bobbin, I set the tension to 6 & the stitch length to 4. It also seems to work with the tension all the way up to 9. YAY!!!
And so here we have the end result & we are happy, happy, happy

Help!!!!

Ok so I’m not as computer savvy as I may at first thought. So I do apologize now for my very amateur & poor attempt of a blog site. Arrrhhh!!! But surly I’ll work it all out soon enough & if not I wont let you suffer in silence, I’ll call for help.
But whilst the page may not be all that pretty, one thing is for sure and that is the information I put on here will be honest & true. So stick around & I’m sure to add a little spice as time goes on.
So thanks for calling in on kiddilicious & I’ll be back real soon. Xx

Welcome to everything **Kiddilicious**

Well, here goes nothing : /
Hi my name is Ingrid & I've finally got the nerve to start this blog...YIKES!!!!
Ok, so a little about me. I am married to a wonderful & supportive man & I'm WAHM with 3 beautiful children. Two boys & one tomboy..lol    And this year all three are at school, giving me the opportunity do something that I love. And what's that???? It's create.  I'm am mostly self taught & LOVE the internet for tutorials. So as a pay it forward I do hope that from time to time I too can add some of my own tutorials. So keep an eye out for that.
Before becoming a Mother I worked as a Cosmetic Consultant & before that as a Merchandiser. So I guess you could say that I've always had an eye for colour & creativeness. I'm a busy person who just can't sit still & has to doing something all of the time. (Hence why I have 3 extremely active kiddies). My relaxation is fabric & craft shopping, researching crafts & fashion & coming up with new idea...(Oh yeah!! & of course a nice Sav Blanc to top it all off)  : )
